Snow flurries flew around Osiris's face as he forced his gray and white body through the snow. It had been snowing for days, and, if it were possible, the prey had gotten even more scarce. The tom could feel his empty stomach, and he knew that he needed to find some food. That was why he headed out this morning to go hunting, but the brave King was unsuccessful, and now he was heading back home with his tail pointing towards the ground. Even though Osiris was hungry, food wasn't his biggest worry. As always, it was Seline. She was pregnant with his kits, and the King was trying to spend every moment with her. He didn't want to leave her side ever, especially now that she was pregnant. She needed his care, well... Osiris thought she needed his care. The foolish soon-to-be father didn't know if Seline actually needed help, however he was going to give her his undivided attention if she asked for it or not.

The King soon found himself near the center of Shamsi territory with a small bird in his mouth. It was tiny and barely a mouthful, but it was the best he could find. Osiris wished he could bring a large rabbit back for his Queen, but that was silly dream in these times. So the bird would have to do. "Seline! Seline!" The gray patch cat yelled out for his mate, however his voice was muffled by his catch. He didn't see her, and part of his mind couldn't help but go to a dark place. The Roshen were everywhere now days, and one could never be too careful. The Roshen would strike at any time, and there was never any warning.

Osiris put the bird on the ground gently, and he cast his green eyes around the territory, "Seline?" Her name had turned into a question, and his heart began to race. Foxes, badgers, Roshen! Could they have carried off Seline and killed her? "Seline!" He yelled once more into the snowy evening air.

Seline peaked her head out from her hiding place, seeing it was only Osiris she stepped out into the open. Seeing a tiny bird in his mouth made her happy. She had been hungrier as of late, which was bad in a time such as this. Prey was scarce enough and she felt bad being a priority over the other colony cats.


"I am here Osiris. Do not fret."


She'd been making the effort to keep out of colony affairs, leaving the King as the one in charge. Stressing out wouldn't do her any good considering how far along she was. Per Osiris' request she was doing nothing but resting. Shooing away any cat who came to her, while she felt sorry afterwards. She didn't want to be in anyones presence but Osiris', and even then she could be a bit irritable.

She was in a good mood now, as she had been for the past few days. Enjoying herself as she slept and watched the snow drift from the sky to the ground in the safety of her hidey hole. It was fairly warm, much warmer when Osiris joined her. She beckoned him over. A meal and a warm body was something she could use.
Things were going smoothly for the she-cat. She was comfortable and a little more than eager to deliver the next line of Shamsi royalty.

"Come here my King." She called, ducking her head back into the hole. She laid down once more, tucking her tail around her paws to keep in as much warmth as she could.

Osiris jumped slightly when he heard his Queen's voice, but when he turned to she her beautiful face he was frozen. She is fine! She is safe! Her kits are safe! My kits are safe! Our kits are safe! Stupidly, he tried to talk, but the bird was still dangling from his mouth, so instead he followed Seline into her hiding place. He placed the bird in front of her, "Here. I thought you might like this. I don't know if you have been lucky enough to find food today." His purr was warm and loving, and he bent down and licked his mate's head before curling up next to her. His eyes landed on her stomach, and he smiled up at Seline, "You look amazing." And he gently nuzzled her fluffy white face, "How are you feeling?"

Though the King tried to act calm, there was nothing scarier than his mate being pregnant. He had always been paranoid when it came to Seline, but now it wasn't just her life on the line. It could be between two and seven lives on the line if she was attacked, and Osiris would bet his whiskers that the Roshen would love to kill the pregnant Shamsi queen. Killing was a game to them.

The queen could feel how anxious the king was around her. "I found a mouse, that is all."Earlier she had went out to find herself a meal and found merely a snack. It had barely made a dent in her stomach. She was eating for.. multiple. She was grateful for the bird Osiris had given her.

"Thank you. I feel fine. Just a little tired and hungry." Not to mention lonely, she had been craving affection as much as she was craving food. Osiris was here now, bringing comfort to the pregnant queen. She leaned into his soft furred body, emitting a purr as she nuzzled the male.

Her hunger was made apparent and she then begin to eat, taking only a few moments to consume the small bird.

"I hope this bird will help." Osiris's purrs became louder as Seline leaned into him, and began to lightly clean the back of her head. He had missed her with all of his heart, and happy shivers ran down his back now that he was with her again. She quickly ate up the bird he had brought her, and he couldn't help but feel guilty for not bringing her something better. Even though it wasn't exactly his choice to bring her something this small. No matter, He reassured himself, Soon enough it will be spring. To think of it, by the time Seline gives birth it will be spring. Thank goodness they won't be born into this snow, well... They might still be born into snow, but at least by the time they are eating meat there should be some prey around.

Osiris stopped cleaning his mate's head, and he tried to relax for a moment. It didn't work. His thoughts kept running into dark corners of his brain, and dark memories kept coming up. He remembered the day Seline's mother died, and how powerful the Roshen had been. His heart raced as he remembered the bloodshed of that horrible day, and his tail started to flick.

Seline sighed, licking her paws and cleaning her face of the evidence from her meal. Once she deemed herself ok she went right back to nuzzling against Osiris. She could feel the male tense up. There was no doubt in her mind that he was thinking. 

It pained to see him so haunted by the Roshen. By that tragic day in which Seline became Queen. Her mother's untimely death surely hung over her, but it wasn't anything she couldn't handle. Even so she had Osiris by her side always. It was a reminder. A motivator for her to become stronger and lead her colony to a place where they could live comfortably. 

It caused her anxiety to think about the meeting. About how the future of the Shamsi colony was hanging on by a thread. She didn't want her kits to live in a dangerous world such as this.  It was hard enough for her, think of how hard it could be for a kitten. 

"Osiris.." she murmured next to his ear. "My king, things will be ok." She tried to sound confident. It would help the both of them that she did. To keep things light, she playfully nipped at the tom's ear. She smiled mischievously at him.

The King smiled and laughed slightly at Seline, and he nuzzled his muzzle into her neck. "You're right." Osiris purred his words muffled by the white fur of his mate, "I need to stop worrying, and I just need to be happy that you and I and the rest of the Shamsi colony are safe for now. That is all I can ask for." The gray and white tom pulled away slightly, "Anyways, I don't want out kits to be brought up in a world filled with fear. They need to be happy, and we need to be happy." The King had calmed down. Seline was right, as always. He shouldn't be worrying. If the Roshen were going to attack all he could do is defend. He couldn't control the Roshen, and he would just have to let the future unfold.

Osiris looked back at Seline's face, and he calmly and slowly blinked at her to try and tell her that he was done panicking. "I love you my Queen."

Seline sighed happily at that.

"I love you too."
She laid her head down between her paws, her blue eyes flittering shut. "With you here to protect them I am sure they will grow up just fine." Seline flicked her tail across Osiris' back. "You have the ability to make anyone happy. You make me happy, so I have no doubts in my mind you'll do the same with our offspring. Do not fret."  


The poor queen was tired. Despite not doing anything particularly tiring that day she felt fatigued. With Osiris next to her she slowly began to drift off to sleep.

The King closed his eyes slowly, and he laid down peacefully next to his Queen. His heart rate had slowed down as he finally became calm. "You are right. I will always be here to help." Osiris's voice was starting fade away now as he drifted to sleep. It was a troubled sleep though. There was the Sheeva and the Roshen to worry about, but Seline had calmed his mind about those. Now he was worrying about the birth of his kits. He had witnessed other females giving birth, and it was hard to watch. He usually walked away and came back to congratulate the mother later. Soon enough it would Seline's turn, and Osiris had to be there for her. Yet he didn't want to see her in that much pain. I shouldn't worry about it too much anyways. She shouldn't be giving birth for a while... right?

Osiris stood up and moved to the entrance of the den trying his best not to wake Seline. He looked out into the night sky trying to examine the patterns. Seline will be fine. I will be fine. The kits will be fine. Everyone will be fine. I don't have to worry about Seline giving birth or being a father for a while.

"Osiris.." Seline murmured in his sleep-drunken state. She didn't get an answer so she rolled over to her side. When she didn't feel the usual fluffy, warm body she called out again, a little louder this time. "Osiris.." She mewed. She felt something. Possibly the kittens coming.

Seline expected pain and to be tired. But every ache she felt was outweighed by the site of her little newborns.
They were small. 6 of them in total. There was clear indications of which ones took Selines features and which took Osiris'. She loved them. This was now her own family, her blood, her next in line. She gave them all a good licking, making sure each and every one of her newborn kits were clean. She watched them contentedly as they all squirmed and moved. "Osiris look..."

Osiris turned to look at his Queen, but he didn't say anything. He didn't know if she was talking in her sleep or not. He saw Seline turn over, and then she seemed to wake up from something. "What is it?" Then he realized what it was.

***Time Skip***

Osiris starred at the six beautiful kits and his beautiful mate. He leaned down to lick a pure white female kit that looked just like Seline. "They're gorgeous Seline. I love them." He moved the white kit back to Seline's side, and he watched it squirm to her side to drink milk. He had never felt this happy before, and he couldn't and wouldn't look away from the kits. "We have a family Seline. I can't believe it. They are wonderful."

The kits were squirming and mewling as they tried to get to Seline's milk, but one of the males didn't seem to know where to go. Osiris bent to push the kit towards the Seline's belly. Why can't he find her milk? Is there something... wrong with him? The thought was horrible! It doesn't matter. I still love him!

Seline noticed the poor male kit who couldn't seem to find his way. He was clearly different than his siblings, possibly a defect but he seemed strong and rather lively. She adored him just as she did the rest. There was another, one of the males who was small and weak unlike his siblings. She made a note to keep careful watch of him. She wanted all her children to survive until their adult lives. They were her's and Osiris' offspring. Their future. She intended to keep them alive and healthy.

"They are wonderful aren't they?" She smiled at him. "I fear for this one," She licked the small make in question. "And his brother, but I'm sure they will be fine. They are in good hands."
She knew Osiris would take care of the small kittens no matter what.

"So do I." Osiris purred sadly into Seline's ear. "But I wouldn't ask for anything else. They are perfect, and I wouldn't change a thing about them. I can't wait to see them train for their future positions." He smiled in a dreamy and far off manner, "I wonder what they will all do." He then laughed, "I wonder which one will grow up to be the new King or Queen." He then shook his head, "I guess I shouldn't think of things like that. I should just be happy of what is happening now."

The fluffy gray and white king put a friendly and comforting paw upon Seline. "You should rest." He purred softly and started to clean her head and face gently. He worried about her, but he guess if she could do something like give birth, she could do anything. He couldn't imagine how much strength and love it took to give birth.

"It is good to think of the future."  She smiled warmly. She now had everything. A loving and caring mate, an open colony and now a family of her own. Seline nodded at Osiris' advice. She purred, feeling him kindly clean her. He was always such a gentlemen, looking out for her well-being. 

She was tired. In both mind and body. She had brief thoughts about the Roshen when Osiris had mentioned which of the litter would rise up and become the king or queen. The Shamsi queen hoped that before that this conflict would be resolved and that the colonies were safe. She knew the future wasn't guaranteed.  "I shall. Thank you Osiris."

Osiris's smiled still couldn't leave his face. He curled his body around Seline, and lay his head down on her. But he didn't and couldn't close his eyes. He was worried about his Queen, but he was also just too excited! He was a father! It was like a dream come true. He could worry about the future later. Right now he just needed to put all of his energy and focus into Seline and the kittens. "Got any ideas for names?" He purred quietly into her ear.

Seline smiled sweetly at him. "I was hoping to let you name the little ones." 
The Shamsi queen felt warmth of her mate against her before his head. She was tense but Osiris being so close made her relax. She felt happy and excited and yet doubtful. Something she'd talk with Osiris later about. "I do have a few things in mind but, I wish to hear your ideas first."
