The white she-cat padded into the Shamsi territory. A light blanket of snow had blanketed the ground. When she had left that morning it was nearly gone from the sun's hot rays, but now in the afternoon she can see a fresh layer laid upon them. She hadn't been gone for too long yet she knew Osiris would be worried. She informed him of where she'd be incase he needed her and the reason why she was going.

She had needed to clear her mind. Take her frustrations out on a hunt rather than someone else. The winter had been harsh and unforgiving this year round and the lack of food was hurting morale. Along with the threat of the Roshen's, it was a stressful time.
She sadly only found a mouse, a tiny one at that. It didn't do much to fill her belly but she was much calmer now. Calm but oddly empty. A clear part of her was missing, a feeling she was no stranger to. Being away from Osiris did that to her.

The Shamsi queen made her way to the trunk of an oak tree, where she sat and waited. Osiris should be here soon, no doubt would a scout have informed him of her arrival into the territory. The tom should bring her warmth and the comfort of a body next to her. She had only been gone a few hours but she had missed him dearly. The king was everything she had been looking for in a mate and more. He was the only one who could bring her comfort after the death of her mother and the only one she could trust. She longed to see him soon and speak with him. Not that was much to discuss, Seline just found comfort in his voice.

"Insert Quote Part 1"

The king sat on a hill watching his colony. The snow had covered everything, and from his point of view all he could see were rolling hills of white. It was beautiful, though he could also see the damaged winter had done to Shamsi territory. So many cats were going to bed with empty bellies, and Osiris hated seeing them like that. He especially hated seeing Seline like that. Seline... The mere thought of his Queen made his heart skip a beat. She was his entire world. It was a terrible thought for a King, but he would be willing to trade the lives of all the Shamsi cats to keep Seline happy. He loved her.

A cat came up onto the snowy hilltop where the King sat, and Osiris slowly glanced over at the cat. It was a Shamsi scout, and Osiris heart dropped. Is this cat bringing news of another Roshen attack? Seline had left Shamsi territory this morning, and that always worried Osiris. It didn't matter if the Roshen were nearby or not, he just wanted his mate to stay safe. However he knew that it was wrong to try and cage her up. It was a balance of wanting her to be safe and wanting her to be happy. It was hard to have both, but he tried his best.

"My King, Queen Seline has returned to Shamsi territory, would-" But Osiris had risen to his feet before the scout could finish.

"Where is she?" He asked the scout trying to stay calm. She is fine! She has returned. These wonderful thoughts filled his mind, but a horrible thought kept making it's way into his mind, She didn't leave me... The King greatest fear had nothing to do with the Sheeva or even the Roshen. What he feared most was Seline leaving him. He had nightmares of Seline screaming that he never made her happy, and he would see her walk off into the woods with a different mate. It was a horrible thought, but it was there.

The scout pointed towards where Seline was, and the calmly walked away from the scout. As soon as he thought the scout couldn't see him, he burst into a run. Sprinting at top speed, he soon found himself where the scout had pointed to. Osiris slowed his paw steps, and he saw her. My little white puffball... That was a silly name he called her in his head. Of course, he would never call her that to her face. The King had frozen in place. It always took him by surprise how beautiful she was. His voice didn't seem to be working, but he managed to take a few steps towards the Queen. He was only a few paw steps behind her, when he managed to say, "Hello Seline..."

'Hello Seline..' Seline turned her head and her heart nearly dropped. There he was, just merely paw steps away from her. She was near breathless upon seeing him.

"My King." Her lips curled up into a soft smile and she stood up, finding herself drifting towards him. She rubbed his cheek against his, a rather loud purr emitting from the she-cat. Seline circled him, inspecting and taking in all of the tom. He remained unchanged, though there was an air of stress. She could understand. With the state of the colony they were in a rather stuck position, Seline running off didn't seem to help his situation. "I'm sorry for leaving you, as you can see I've returned safe and sound."

She kept her voice soft and quiet. Calm. The she-cat finally felt at peace knowing she had her beloved mate by her side. "How have you been? Did anything happen in my absence?" She hoped he wasn't distressed any longer and that the colony was in good shape.

The band of cats were already weak enough. Constant attacks from the Roshen had brought death and despair amongst them. Their numbers were dwindling and the lack of food was most likely going to pick more of them off if something wasn't done. She had a plan in mind but she would need to consult Osiris about it before letting the colony be informed.

Seline's purr warmed him to the core. It calmed him down almost immediately, and it made him begin purr, "It's good to see you again." Osiris groomed the top of Seline's head for a second before saying, "I missed you." He looked deep into Seline's eyes, and he smiled at her. Seeing her always made Osiris feel amazing. Every time their eyes locked he knew that she wouldn't leave him, however this didn't stop those horrible thoughts in head. They were like flies around his head, not matter how hard he tried to get rid of them they kept coming back. "I'm a lot better now that you are with me again." He purred softly at Seline. He was trying to be romantic, though that had never been his strong suit. He had always tried to be romantic through actions instead of words.

"Nothing major has happened, though a hunter did report a scent that could have belonged to a Roshen. Other than that nothing has happened, and sadly no prey has been caught." The king didn't want to bring up this subject, yet it was important to talk about. Seline was the Queen, even if Osiris just saw her as his mate. She had a right to know what darkness hovered over the Shamsi, no matter how much Osiris wanted to keep Seline away from it.

The king sat down and tucked his paws under his body. He gestured with his tail towards the space next to him, silently asking Seline to join him. Osiris face was still stuck in a smile, and he couldn't help it. The Roshen could do what they wanted, but they would never be able to destroy his love for Seline.

Seline happily joined Osiris by his side. Wrapping her tail with his, and leaning in close to nuzzle his neck.
"I am glad to hear that my love. I've missed you too. There are things we must discuss. Namely.. the future." Seline sighed, inhaling Osiris' scent before becoming serious. As much as she wished to indulge in this moment with him, it'd have to wait. They could spend plenty of time together as mates after they discussed things as the King and Queen of the Shamsi.

"The future of us."She nudged his paw with hers as she spoke. "And our colony. I wish to see the Shamsi strong and proud as they were under my mother. It is clear that there's no way we are to survive on our own."She paused and looked off into the distance. Observing the large, sweeping hills as if it were the last she'd see of them. "I'm afraid the Sheeva are our only hope. While they are an enemy, they are... fighting against the same evil we face. 'An enemy of my enemy is my friend'. Right?"

She sighed. The idea was crazy enough but the implications of actually getting the Sheeva to consider the idea was worse. The two colonies had a bitter rivalry that has been going on for as long as she can remember. "I do not want to endanger you in any way but I don't want to see our colony go hungry. I do not see any other options ahead of us. Whatever does happen though.." She spoke quietly. "Can you promise me we will not separate?" @dawn

Osiris's purr got much louder when he heard that she had missed him too, but he stopped purring when she brought up the Sheeva. He looked away from Seline, "I hate the idea..." He let those words hang in the air like frost, before he added, "But you are right. We must put petty rivalries behind us and move forward for the good of both our colonies. Just the Sheeva are so stubborn, i'm not quite sure we could convince them." He turned his head so his green eyes met with Seline's blue eyes. "We must speak with Silas..." The King's sentence trailed off. He hated Silas! Though the level-headed queen was right. They could only be strong together.

Seline's next words took Osiris by surprise. "Can you promise me we will not separate?" She's voicing my inner fears, Oriris thought, but looking into Seline's eyes he saw something else. It was something that intrigued him. "Oh course we won't separate. I love you Seline, and I want to grow old with you. Which reminds me, there is something I have been wanting to ask you..." The King turned his head away from Seline's eyes. He couldn't look at her when he said this, "Seline... I love you very much, and you make me very happy. However there is still something.... missing in my life." Missing? That sounds horrible! His inner voice berated him for his strange word choice, and Osiris's tail lashed back and forth a few times, "Seline... Would you be... I mean are you..." He couldn't say the words, but they flowed through his mind easily. Seline, I want to be the father of your kits. I want to have a litter with you, and I want to watch them grow up. I want to see them fall in love and have kits of their own, and I want to be a grandparent with you.

"Silas will understand our situation. He must, he is facing it too. I can tell. We are two colonies going through the same struggle so we must join together, if temporarily." She paused, staring intently at him as he spoke. He couldn't face her. The words were hard to get out and he couldn't look at her.
"I love you too. Osiris, speak to me."She stood up suddenly, walking around the Shamsi king so that she was facing him once more. "Tell me what you're missing in your life so that I may assist in filling it."

She could understand if it was hard for him. To get out his feelings, she sometimes had that same trouble. They had eachother though. To lean on in times like these where the words were trapped in the mind. "Tell me what you need from me."Carefully she rubbed her cheek against his, hoping that the small displays of affection would calm the tom down enough for him to talk. She hated seeing him this way.

Seline stood up and moved to be in front of Osiris, and the king looked up at her. Her blue eyes instantly calmed him down, and when she rubbed against his chin it sent happy tingles down his spine. Finally, he managed to force out what he was trying to say, "Seline, I want to be a father. I want us to have a litter together." His fur felt hot, and the tip of his tail was moving around in circles. He shuffled his paws around, but he didn't break eye contact with Seline. He couldn't. He wouldn't. "So I guess what i'm saying is... Do you want to have litter of kits with me?" Osiris suddenly felt very self-conscious. He could feel every singles tuft of fur on his body, and his whiskers were starting to bother him. I sound like an idiot. What if she says no? Will she not want to stay with that crazy cat who asked her to have kits with her? What if I have to leave the colony? His mind was exploding with 'what ifs'.

The she-cat had never been more relieved in her life. Osiris simply wanted to father her kittens. She smiled at him, her blue eyes twinkled as she nodded.

"Of course."


Truth be told she had already made up her mind the moment she met him. She always had a feeling about him. He was so kind and loving and with every fiber of his being it was genuine. She loved him. Every part of him. How he managed to bring out from inside her a happiness, in the darkest times. How after her mother's gruesome death, he helped her through such sleepless nights. How he was always there for her to talk to or just sit with. No matter the time of day, or what was going on. They were together in both body and soul, she believed.

Seline would be a fool to not accept this. Her mother raised her better than that. Having a family with Osiris would only strengthen their bond, and keep them together even more so if possible.
"Of course I would. I'd love to, I- I was hoping you'd bring it up, I've been wanting this for sometime, I just needed to know when you were comfortable with the idea." It was certainly a big step, and in such drastic times. But Seline knew Osiris, better than any cat she's come in contact with and he was someone she truly trusted. He would be a great father. Everything she could have asked for and more. She gave the handsome tom a lick on the cheek. "I would truly be honored to have a litter of kittens with you Osiris."

Instantly, Osiris's ears shot straight up, "Really?!" Then he realized what he must sound like, and he relaxed, "I'm happy to hear that you have been wanting this as well. For the last year it keeps popping into my head, but I always made excuses about it being the wrong time to have kits. But I finally realized that it doesn't matter when, it just matter that it is with you." Part of the King's mind knew how sappy he was being, but the gray male didn't care. He loved Seline, and he loved the idea of being a father. In his mind, he could see himself and Seline watching over three gorgeous kits that looked just like her. They played with each other, and they were little white puffballs made of youth and hope. It was a beautiful mental picture. "You will be an amazing mother. I just know it. You are so kind and gentle. They will love you." He purred smiling at his mate.

Osiris rose to his feet and moved over to Seline's side. He rubbed his head against her head, and his purr was louder than he had ever heard it before. A happy and excited feeling filled his chest, and he knew that he and Seline would make the most beautiful, strong, and intelligent kits.

Seline was tired, yet content. This was a big decision on their part and she was happy to have made it. There was nothing certain about the future. With kits in mind, Seline knew she'd have to be even more careful with everything she did.

Osiris worried about her enough as is, with being the mother of his kits she was sure he would become even more frantic. She sighed and curled up, the ground all warm from where she was laying.

The gray and white tom watched Seline curl up. He was worried about Seline, the Roshen, and even the Sheeva, but he knew that having a litter would keep everyone in high spirit. Everyone loved it when new kits were born, and Osiris truly hoped that he could be a good father. 

Calmly, Osiris curled his large body around Seline's fluffy white figure, and he closed his eyes. His dreams were turned into nightmares as he imagined Seline giving birth to a litter of five, and they were all still borns.
